Spike is brilliant within his work as a WiFi network installer; in fact, his 'shorts' on social media about WiFi installations have gained him a following in recent months.
We have a lot of email questions about WiFi 7, and WiFi 7 is well and truly here. so let's begin responding to some of the queries I've jotted down from everyone and put some responses online back to you.
Anything I haven't covered, we will at some point do another one like this - so pop us an email.
From Kelly W: Can you offer some advice please? Im thinking about getting a WiFi 7 Router, Are they backwards compatible with my devices?
Spike Yes they are - but please be aware those devices may not be able to fully access the performance of WiFi 7.
From Bill T: I've just moved into a really old building which has thick walls - Is WiFi 7 more effective at penetrating walls?
Spike: Unfortunately, thick walls or wooden beams will impact speeds, (in a sense - a barrier). To achieve complete blanket coverage, it would be advisable to use a Mesh System.
From Jim H: Hey there, I'm just after a bit of advice initially. I'm in a new build, what cable do I need for WiFi 7?
Spike: Hi Jim, thanks for question. In order to fully utilise WiFi 7, I would suggest Cat6, Cat7, and Cat8.
June G: Do you have a list of the WiFi 7 compatible devices ?
Spike: Hi June, I don't have a full comprehensive list as of yet but here is a few: From Google Pixel 8 onwards, iPhone 16, Iphone 16pro, Lenovo ThinkPad X9 Aura Edition
If you have current devices they should be backward compatible - but please be aware those devices may not be able to fully access the performance of WiFi 7.
Graham S: I know you install WiFi - but are you a Wifi 7 mesh network installation specialist ?
Spike: Yes we are - have a look at our page https://www.wirewizards.net/wi-fi-systems
